HISTORICAL EVENTS WHICH HAPPENED IN AUGUST

01.10.1943 - On the mountain "Bukovik" around 4000 ballists
together with German officers and soldiers, carried out an attack on independent territory of western Macedonia. There they were confronted by the youth partisan squad which had 39 soldiers leaded by the commander Lazar Lazarevski - Goce and the commissary Mirko Mileski -
Uros. The youth partisan squad resisted for seven hours suffering heavy casualties. Most of the 39 soldiers died together with the commander Lazar
Lozanovski, who later was proclaimed as a National Hero of Macedonia. 17.10.1878 - Exploded the "Kresna Uprising" of the Macedonian people. Around 400 rebels leaded by Dimitar Pop Gorgiev - Berovski, and duke Stojan Karastoilov, attacked the village Kresna, where the Turkish barracks were located. Meanwhile they occupied the barracks and freed some territories. The Uprising was directed against the Turkish authority and to liberate Macedonia. The Uprising came to an end in June 1879. 20.10.1875 - Dimo Ivancev Hadi-Dimov was born in the village of Gorno Brodi, Ser. He was an idealist of the Macedonian national-freedom movement, a national tribune, socialist and a close collaborator with Goce Delcev and Jane Sandanski. 20.10.1915 - Anton Panov was born in the village Igumenec (Gega), Pirin Macedonia, he was a Macedonian revolutionaries, journalist, writer, active communist and a member of the resistance against the fascist regime in Bulgaria. Because of his revolutionary activity he was executed by a Bulgarian fascist executioner on 23.07.1942. 23.10.1893 - In Solun, with participation of the outstanding Macedonian revolutioneries Dame Gruev, a teacher from the village of Smilevo, Petar Pop Arsov, a teacher from the village of Bogomila, Dr Hristo Tatarcev, a doctor from Resen, Ivan Hadi Nikolov, a bookseller from Kukus, Andon Dimitrov, a teacher from Gumenida , formed VMRO. According to the constitution and the status of the organisation from 1896, when it received the name TMORO, its aim was to gain political autonomy on Macedonia. Some of the other carriers of the organisation were Goce Delcev, Jane Sandanski, Pere Tosev, Gorce Petrov, Dame Gruev, Dimo Hadi Dimov, Nilola Karev and others. The biggest work of the organisation was the Ilinden Uprising in 1903. In 1905 the organisation received the name VMORO. 27.10.1920 - The national hero of Macedonia Stefan Naumov - Stif
was born in Bitola. He studied secondary school in Bitola, and then studied in the Technical University in Belgrade. Because of his revolutionary views before the war he spend six months in jail. When Stefan was released from prison he participated in demonstrations with a bigger revolutionary view, and was in prison again. Stif goes to Bitola and as a seasonal worker he work’s in the monopoly, where he formes illegal groups from successful workers. After the occupation of Macedonia together with Kuzman Josifovski - Pitu in Bitola they organised the Ilinden demonstrations. As a illegal person he undertook a number of actions in
Bitola. In the spring of 1942, he becomes a member of the Operative headquarters of Macedonia. Together with Mirce
Acev, they formed a Partisan detached force. Stif killed the chief of police
Kurciev, who tried to liquidate him. Stif is sentenced to death and manhunted for the price of 200,000
leva. Stif died on 12.09.1942 in the village Bolno near Resen, together with the national hero Mite
Bogoevski, taking his life so that he does not fall into the hands of the Bulgarian occupier. 29.10.1975 - Risto Krle, a Macedonian writer and dramaturges died in Skopje. His work is of great importance to the Macedonian Drama Literature. The drama's "Parite Se Otepuvacka", " Milion Macenici" and "Antica" created before the Second World War helped towards the creative work of Anton Panov and Vasil Iljoski. After the war, Krle wrote two more dramas "Grof Milivoj" and "Velik Den", and his autobiography. Risto Krle was born in Struga on 03.11.1900.
